a)Most important reason is you are putting something in it: This includes internet charges, electricity bills, your efforts, your time etc.
b)There is a risk involved:You may actually not earn anything which may lead to your discontinuation.
c)There is a great uncertainty in risks & rewards, in failure & in success: As in any other investment there is a great uncertainty which may be minimised but never dissapear completely.
d)There is speculation involved: you speculate that your invester will like your post, you speculate that there will be a increase in traffic to you blog etc.

Selling Advertising on your blog
There are a few different types of strategies that budding entrepreneurs use to make money by blogging. One of the easiest and more common ways to monetize a blog is to sell advertising space to companies and other websites that want to target the demographics of a specific blog. This is widely popular and more blog authors are jumping on this wagon than ever before, due to how easy it is. Another popular way of making money with a blog is by designing a blog that focuses on a single brand that will improve its image by creating positive images between the blog and the product in the mind of the reader and/or consumer. Each of these methods have the opportunity to make the blogger a nice amount of residual or straight-up profit, especially if they excel in the marketing arena.
If you are among the blog authors that are aiming at selling targeted advertising, there are a couple ways that you can start recruiting sponsors who want to put their ads on your blog; you can let someone else do all of the grunt work, or you can do the work yourself and keep 100% of the resulting revenue.
Within the first group, many bloggers make money by showing ads from the Google AdSense program and similar ad publishing sources. Very little effort is required when you decide to show Ads from Google AdSense, and if you are showing them on a hot niche with good traffic, there is potential for a lot of money to be made. In reality, most bloggers who start showing AdSense ads are disappointed at best when they see their earnings in the beginning. The key to making decent money with Google AdSense is to have a quality, non-overcrowded niche with fresh, unique content. Put all of those ingredients in a blender and give it a little time, and you’ll start noticing drastic improvements in your click through revenue.
If you have the time, patience, and motivation, then selling ads directly to companies that may be interested in your ad space can be very much worth your time and effort. Of course, it always helps to have contacts in the niche that you are selling ads in, so do yourself a favor and network, network, network. Having a sales background helps when it comes time to propose to other companies/sites to buy space on your blog, but if you don’t have a sales background, then find someone in your family or one of your friends that does. Just pay them a small fee to pitch it for you. Of course, the best way to learn how to sell your ad space is to do it yourself, as you will definitely learn a lot along the way. In order to sell advertising space directly, most often you’ll need some impressive stats to go along with it. You can’t just start a blog, and a week later hope to sell ad space for x amount of dollars to a big company. You’ll need to spend several months building up a reader base, traffic, and links from big sites in your niche. Once you are at a level where you can consider yourself a “pro-blogger,” then the companies will come to you to ask about buying advertising space.
Another scenario that can be quite lucrative is one where a company decides to start a blog of their own, which allows them to “keep in touch with the people.” Since blogs are traditionally updated more frequently than actual websites, companies will start blogs to show that they are in touch with the digital world, and will often break important product or service news on the blog before it ever reaches the main website. This can be quite lucrative for the right blogger, because when a company decides to start a blog, they will usually find a blogger who writes in the same niche as the company is in. Many bloggers have been approached by major companies, who offer attractive salaries, benefits, and other bonuses, just to blog! Position yourself as an expert in your niche, and this very well could happen to you someday.

How To Increase Baclinks To Your Site
What type of posts have brought in the most incoming links?
I’d be guessing here - but I think there’d be a few:
* Scoops - breaking big news is probably the best way to get incoming links because the majority of bloggers who report on the news will also include a link to you as it’s source. Some blogs have perfected the scoop post to the point that they’ve really launched themselves into the A-list as a result of them.
* How To Posts - I always find that these posts generate a lot of incoming links. Once you help one person work out how to do something - they often like to keep a record of it for themselves but also to pass it on.
* Opinion Pieces - arguing a point strongly is great for getting people to comment and link up to your posts as you generally find that two camps rise up as a result - firstly those who agree with you and want to write about why - and secondly those who disagree with you and want to state their case.
* Group Projects - while I don’t force participants to link back to my blog I do ask them to consider it. Even if only 50% do this can result in a hundred or more backlinks per project.
* Humor Posts - one of the frustrating things of having a serious blog is that quite often the heavier and serious posts (that you put hours and hours into writing) get ignored and it can be the lighter and humorous ones that you post off the cuff without thinking about them that get all the attention.
These are the type of posts that seem to generate links . On other blogs there are similarities but I’ve found that each blog seems to have it’s own type of post that works best.
Lastly - Keep in mind that links are not everything. While they definitely help, concentrate on producing great content and keeping a holistic perspective and you’ll find the links will come in time.

Spice up your blog
Three Ways to Spice Up Any Blog Post
by Brian Clark
Is your writing all meatloaf and mashed potatoes and no jalapeƱo and oregano? If so, you may be focusing on format and forgetting about what Ernest Hemingway called vigorous language.
We’ve talked a lot lately about how to structure your writing to make it accessible. While an easily digestible format is a critical part of effective content presentation, you don’t want to leave out the succulent seasoning.
Remember, beyond bullet points, numbered lists and compelling subheadings, it’s still the words themselves that matter most. It’s how you say it that will determine whether your audience sings your praises or heads for the hills, so don’t forget to add some zing to your language.
Here are three techniques that will have you bringing zesty back to your blog in no time.
1. Use Sensuous Language
When I say sensuous, I mean you should appeal to the senses, as opposed to the more erotic connotations associated with the companion word sensual. Sex does sell though, so I’ll leave that to your discretion.
While using visual language is critical, a sure-fire way to plant your ideas firmly in someone’s head is to appeal to all five senses. Through the use of imagery, you’re painting a more complete picture in the reader’s mind, which practically guarantees a higher level of engagement.
Example:
The crackling flames danced manically upon the charring husk of the car, illuminating the starless night sky as I stood and watched helplessly. Warm canyon winds pushed the pungent smoke into my face and nostrils, and I tasted my own salty tears at the thought of the laptop in the back seat. All I could think was, how am I going to blog this?
2. Employ High Impact Wording
Too often in our haste to produce content, we become careless with our words and phrases. If how you say it is the key to reader engagement, the first words that come to mind may not be the best words.
* Instead of brave, why not heroic?
* Instead of big, why not gigantic, tremendous or monumental?
* Try rejuvenating, invigorating or exhilarating instead of fresh.
* Go with chuckle, chortle or guffaw just for laughs.
* Why be frank when you can explode the myths about X and Y?
* It’s not new, it’s a glimpse into the future.
Simple words are the rule, but your thesaurus can help you sprinkle potent and distinctive exceptions throughout your writing. High impact words and phrases keep your reader engrossed via vibrant and vigorous language.
3. Be Entertaining
Coming up with an entertaining angle, using interesting language and making knowing references will always be a hit with your readers. Please notice that I didn’t say funny. Funny is hard… any professional humor writer will tell you he writes 10 jokes for every 2-3 keepers. That’s a rough ratio for a busy blogger.
Besides, look at most television commercials. In the quest for funny, most of these advertisements forget that there’s another point—to sell something. You want to make sure you’re not losing sight of your own blogging goals in the quest for a laugh.
The key to an entertaining blog post is to toss in some lightheartedness, especially if your topic is somewhat dry. Tongue-in-cheek references to popular culture or the peculiarities of your industry will help your readers smile and more closely identify with you. Just make sure you’re not being too obscure, or you may leave a sizable chunk of your audience in the dark.
Develop a Distinctive Voice
Over time, you’ll find which techniques work for you. While you’ll always want to keep pushing your boundaries, a writer who is comfortable and confident in her own style naturally ends up an effective writer.
At that point, you’ll be more likely to go with your instincts and not second-guess yourself. If you feel like writing a post that makes corny references to common cooking spices in the opening and close, you’ll just do it.
Well… I could curry on with this sage advice, but I’m short on thyme. And yes, these spice puns are so bad it’s beyond bay leaf, and I’m certainly parsley to blame. Good thing I’m not trying to be funny.

4 Interesting Steps to Jumpstart Your Blogging
Blogging is the new news hub nowadays. People are increasingly turning to blogs for their source of information. The important thing is that you have to love writing for writing itself. Blogging can become a chore for others, because they have no passion for writing in the first place.
With that in mind, you can be ready to start your blogging adventure with the following steps in mind:
1. Make a checklist of what you want in a blog host. Examples are: ease of use, photo and media hosting options, format, social networking integration, etc. Blogger.com and Wordpress.com are best for words-mostly, while Multiply.com is best for media blogging with social networking.
2. Set up your account, and tweak the settings. The free blog hosts already have templates ready for your use. If you don't like their templates, you can always get other templates from websites like Finalsense.com, etc.
3. Determine what you want to write about. Unless you are doing a personal journal blog, you have to stay focused on your chosen topic or theme. More so if you eventually want to go into professional blogging.
4. Write! You got into blogging because you love writing, don't you? If ever you hit a rough patch in your idea-generation, or if you are facing plain old writer's block, all you need is a webcam and a microphone, and you can blab your afternoon away. Then, post it instead of writing something. Blogging is not restricted to the written word. You can be as free as you want with whatever medium.
Either way you choose to go about it, blogging is a medium that is here to stay. With blogging, you will be able to reach more people, be able to express yourself verbally, and reach a wider audience. Follow these steps, and you'll be on your way to blogging with pleasure!

HOW TO EXPLODE YOUR BLOG SUBSCRIPTION
How did you get 6,000 subscribers in 10 months?
The answer is simple—I value subscribers more than any other measure of blog success, such as page views or raw traffic. Subscribers are the life blood of a successful blog in my opinion, and frankly, I wish I had more of them. :)
OK, that may be a bit vague.
So here are 10 specific strategies you can begin to implement today and start getting more blog subscribers right away.
1. Make it easy and obvious
As I’ve said before in more detail, make your subscription options prominent, offer an email alternative to RSS, and ask for the subscription, preferably at the bottom of each post.
2. Be laser focused
Make sure that you are primarily focusing on a particular topic, and the more specialized that topic is, the better you’ll do. It’s also key to step back and evaluate whether there are enough prospective readers in your chosen niche. It’s better to be brutally honest with yourself than to toil away and end up disappointed.
3. Offer a bribe
Relax, it’s nothing illegal. It’s an ethical bribe, in the form of a free ebook, report, e-course or audio series. Typically this only works with email subscriptions tied to autoresponders, because you want to condition delivery of the bonus on subscription.
But here’s a nifty way to do it with RSS:
If you have a WordPress blog, use the free Feedvertising plugin to link to the download page for your free gift. Since Feedvertising links only show up in the feed (and not in the post), only feed subscribers will see the link and have access to the bonus.
4. Use viral ebooks
This is a spin on the ethical bribe strategy, but instead you let other people give away your PDF ebook or even bundle it for sale with other products. The PDF in turn promotes your blog. Check out this post to see how I bundled my free Viral Copy report with a book that spent several days at the top of the Amazon bestseller list.
5. Dedicated subscription landing page
Create a page that is dedicated to nothing more than obtaining a subscription, and drive traffic to it from your blog, AdWords, or really any other source you want. You can even put it on a unique URL, and add in the ethical bribe strategy to increase signups. For more information on doing this with AdWords, read this article, and then this one.
6. Become a guest blogger
Contributing content to someone else’s blog may seem crazy, but it’s a solid strategy to gain exposure for your own blog and build your subscriber base. Just make it very clear to the blog owner that you require a very brief byline at the end of the post, with a link back to your site. And make sure it’s original content, not something recycled off of your blog.
7. Start a podcast
Start a related podcast on your subject matter, and get it into iTunes and listed in the various podcasting directories. Mention your blog in every episode and the benefits of subscribing, and try to land some interviews with prominent players in your niche. Not only will you be opening up a new promotional channel, you’re also creating bonus content that can be reused as part of your ethical bribe campaign for new subscribers.
8. Post in forums
A tried and true technique since the earliest days of the Internet is to be a helpful, proactive participant in forums that are important in your niche. People will notice that you are offering yourself up to others, and will be more inclined to see what else you have to offer with your blog.
9. Networking
This is perhaps the most overlooked strategy for gaining traffic and subscribers. Don’t badger other bloggers for links, because it rarely works anymore. Find a way to help them with something, and then eventually work that initial graciousness into a business relationship and even friendship. There are real people behind these blogs, and they respond to good will just like people do offline.
10. Cross-promotional deals
Here’s another cool way to make use of the Feedvertising plugin
Find a blogger that publishes related, but non-competitive content. Work out a deal where you both promote each other in your RSS feeds, using Feedvertising. If one blog has way more subscribers than the other, work out a ratio deal. Since Feedvertising allows you to create up to six rotating links, the smaller blog would promote the other blog continuously, while the larger blog would reserve one slot for the smaller blog, and use the other slots for other cross-promotion deals, affiliate links, or sponsor ads.
So there you have it, with one additional word of caution.
All of the above presupposes that you are producing the best content you can. If you honestly cannot say that you are doing your best work content-wise, start there. But afterwards, using some or all of the above will definitely increase your subscriber count

BLOG FOR SALE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Blogsavvy up for Sale - an Interesting Opportunity
Posted in: Miscellaneous Blog Tips
Melbourne Blogger James Farmer has decided to put his blog Blogsavvy on the market. It’s going to be an interesting auction to watch - because it’s a little different to many other blog sales that we’ve seen.
What is different about this auction is that it doesn’t run advertising on it, there’s no affiliate product income - in fact there’s no direct income on this blog at all. However - it does make James money.
You see this blog ranks well for the term blog consultant and enables James to sell his own services as a blog consultant. In the Sitepoint auction James reports his consulting income as $2000 per month. At the Buy it Now Price of $10,000 it’s a pretty tempting offer with those potential earning figures - not to mention it’s established presence in the blogosphere (it’s 2.5 years old).
Of course you’d need to be able to offer blog consulting services to make a business of it but I think it’s going to be a fascinating auction to watch.
Web Directory organized by category, offers search engine, top sites and new added. Links are updated daily. Add your link to our directory, and get a better rank in google, msn, yahoo and other search engine. Permanent link only $10. 1 year Featured links only $20. /year.
